Deadlifting Dynamite

Students Thermopylae are encouraged to push past their limits and overcome. They are also supported when it comes to challenging themselves and setting goals. Last year, Valley Creek started the first year of the Women's Lifting Program. Young women were supported in learning the basics of the deadlift, snatch, clean and jerk, and their supporting movements by certified coaches.

This fall, one of our Praetorians Seri, took it a step further by challenging herself during one of our PE modules to find her maximum 1RM or 1 Rep Maximum.

With a lot of support, encouragement from her friends, and more than a little hard work, Seri was able to achieve a 1RM of 205lbs. (Hex Bar for safety and bumper plates)

Even more incredible is that 205lbs is almost double her body weight.

Not content to leave such an achievement alone, she has plans for building her capacity and pushing even further in the future. Way to go Seri. Find a Way or Make One!!!
